Lyricist Veturi celebrated his 75th birthday

Veturi Sundararama Murthy, also known as Veturi is a poet, lyricist and song writer. He worked as a journalist for popular magazines like Andhra Prabha and Andhra Patrika and later turned into a lyricist. In his 35 years of film career he penned lyrics for hundreds of songs ranging from devotional, sad, happy, romantic, obscene, friendship, naughty, etc.

Veturi was honored with a National Award for his best lyrics ‘Raalipoye puvva neeku ragaalenduke’ from the critically acclaimed film ‘Maathrudevobhava’. This apart, he won seven Nandi awards. The songs in classic ‘Sankarabharam’ for which Veturi penned lyrics are still fresh in the minds of Telugu people.

Hailing from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, Veturi was born on January 29th, 1936.
