Sridevi stuns Mappillai producers

Yesteryear heart-throb and eternal beauty Sridevi, who acted in many language films, made headlines when she walked the ramp at the HDIL India Couture Week 2009 in Mumbai, making a public appearance after so many years! The invitees were thrilled to see that Sridevi has not lost any of her old charm and oomph.

One of the very few actresses who have ruled across different Indian languages, Sridevi is now believed to be making a comeback to films with a Tamil film titled Mappillai, a remake of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s yesteryear blockbuster with the same title.

Sources say the actress shocked the makers of Mappillai recently when she demanded Rs. 80 lakhs as her remuneration AFTER income tax deductions. If this happens, Sridevi will be appearing as hero Dhanush’s mother-in-law in this film directed by Sooraj, who earlier made Dhanush’s Padikadhavan.

Latest reports say that Mappillai will have the same team of technicians as Padikadhavan. Mani Sharma scores music; Venkatesh cranks the camera; Shiyaji Shinde is the villain; Popular Telugu-Kannada hottie Hansika Motwani will be the heroine. Mappillai is slated for release in summer 2010.
