Music Emperor AR Rahman wins Two Grammys

After winning two Oscars in 2009, Music Emperor AR Rahman, once again struck gold twice at 52nd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, the 31st January, 2010. While he won his first Grammy in the best soundtrack for a motion picture, television or any other visual media category and the second Grammy was presented to him for the best song “Jai Ho” written for motion picture “Slumdog Millionaire”.

While he received his second Grammy Rahman said, “This is insane, God is great again. I never dreamt of any honours.”

Rahman has beaten Grammy veteran Bruce Springsteen for his song ‘The Wrestler’ in the best song category and Steve Jordan for ‘Cadillac Records’, Quentin Tarantino for ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and the producers of ‘Twilight’ & ‘True Blood’ in soundtrack category.

Rahman was the first Indian music composer to win the Oscar and he did it by winning two Oscars – one for the original score and the other for original song in ‘Jai Ho’ in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

This has earned him India’s third highest civilian honour, “Padma Bhushan” in 2010. And now, two Grammys. Wah! Janaab! You are the ultimate. Ragalahari congratulates AR Rahman and wishes him to get many more such great honours.
