Even hardcore Sekhar Kammula fans were shocked to see some of the scenes in the film. In the second half when the CM’s convoy is going the heroine suddenly decides to get down and then she breaks into an amateur dance at fields.
Richa is shown wearing a sexy sari and expressing her romantic feelings for the hero. The hero too is no less; he accompanies her to the fields, to run around the trees and all this when he is the CM.
“The convoy waits and the guards protect them with guns standing only on highway. Is this not all ludicrous”?, questions a school teacher Subrahmanyam.
This particular scene seems to have kept many audiences down.
“Leader is a film with a definite concept, the whole idea of the film is to drive home a serious thought concerning the state and the country, how could Sekhar have a dance and song sequence in such a film, that too the CM getting down of his convoy and enjoying in the arms of the heroine? Really some mindless direction from Sekhar that spoiled his own Leader!”, asks Ramani, a housewife.
Though Leader has got great openings there is mixed talk about the film. There is 70% negative talk and only 30% are positive. The reasons are many, but the ones that could be highlighted are the bad music and the lack of Sekhar Kammula stamp in the movie. It all depends on these 30% for the movie to be a success.
If they continue to give it positive publicity then it may workout well, else the remaining 70% will drown it.
The film moreover is primarily dependent on the student community who are coming to the theatres for a Happy Days like experience, but Leader is no Happy Days. That film was made in a budget of a mere 3cr, whereas Leader has exceeded its budget, it has been made with a budget of 14cr.
Leader’ deserves not more than 5 Cr budget to get returns smoothly.
It will take a lot of time for Leader at the Box Office to recover that sort of money, so will it recover such high costs? That is the big question. If it indeed does not recover such money then surely Sekhar has recorded his First Major Flop.
But the latest records say that, the first day collections made all distributors happy across the world. Let us wish it continues and Kammula gets rid of flop-hood.
