Priyadharshan not to remake Kanchivaram

Tamil film ‘Kanchivaram’ won the best feature film award for the year 2007 at 55th National Film Awards. This film is directed by Priyadarshan. Now the buzz is that he had been approached by one of the noted bollywood producer’s to remake this film in Hindi. But the director is said to have denied it saying that the story of ‘Kanchivaram’ is about the weavers’ families in Kanchi during the time of India’s independence. Therefore he does not want to spoil the originality by remaking it once again.

Priyadarshan is presently directing a Hindi flick ‘Khatta Meetha’ introducing Trisha to Bollywood industry. Akshay Kumar is playing the male lead as well as producing this flick. Interestingly this story has been penned by Priyan himself. This apart he has also written another story which is also on roll with stars like Ajay Devagan and Akshay Khanna in lead role.
