Lyricist Krishna Chaitanya wants to be a director

Charitra Lo Adhyayamu

Likhinchani O Geyamu

Nirantaram Sangramamu

Dharitrike O Bhaaram..

So writes Krishna Chaitanya for Chaitanya Dantalurri's Baanam that was released recently. His song Sehri from Siddharth-starrer Oye topped the music charts recently too.

Talented and brimming with energy and enthusiasm, the young associate director who wants to be a director has made it in Telugu films as a lyricist.

He has completed writing fifty songs with Nagarjuna starrer Kedi that's releasing shortly. An engineering graduate from the University of Madras, he worked as a software engineer and proved his expertise as an artificial intelligence test engineer before telling his family that he wants to pursue a career in movies.

"I'm making more money here than what I would have made as an engineer, so my parents should not have a problem with me working in films," says Krishna Chaitanya. He adds, "Many people in my family have been abnormal…in finishing IITs and IIMs, I'm the only one normal guy around who is satisfied with an engineering degree." His grandfather and Bapu are brothers and his grandfather Krishna Moorthy produced many Telugu films like Budhimantadu, Sampoorna Ramayanam and Anadala Ramudu. His grandfather passed away even before he was born. Krishna Chaitanya's father is a writer.Spending hours immersed in books is his favourite pastime and he grew up reading all kinds of literature , prose, poetry in English, Telugu and Tamil. His favourite writers include Karunanidhi, Bharatiyar, Shadow Madhu Babu, and Sri Sri, Chalam Krishna Sastry, Vadra Settyraju.

He says he grabs anything that comes his way and reads even the Harry Potter series. How did he develop a fascination for movies? After seeing Ram Gopal Varma's Shiva Krishna, Chaitanya decided that this is the place he wanted to be in. He's just finished penning lyrics for RGV's Rakta Charitra. He started off doing short films and his short film on child labour won him the first prize. His aim now is to become a director.
