Kanchivaram swept Santaram awards

Tamil film ‘Kanchivaram’ swept the prestigious V Santaram awards for the year 2007. This film won four awards – Best Actor – Prakash Raj, Best Film award, Best director – Priyadarshan, and Best Cinematographer – Thiru. ‘Kanchivaram’ also won two National awards recently in Best Film and Best Actor categories. Speaking to the media Priyadarshan said that this is his first award as a director in his career. He informed that he is presently directing his 80th film, which is ‘Khatta Meetha’ starring Akshay Kumar and Trisha.

Rani Mukherjee won the Best Actress award for the film ‘Dil Bhole Hadippa’. While the second best film was awarded to a Marati film ‘Gabricha Paas’ Saif Ali Khan’s first production venture ‘Love Aaj Kal’ received the third best film award. Nandita Das received the best debut director award for the film ‘Firaaq’. The best screenplay award was bagged by Sandeep Srivasthava for ‘New York’ and Preetam received the award for best original scores in ‘Love Aaj Kal’.
