Jalsa 2 weeks worldwide gross 32 crores, dream run at boxoffice continues
With no competition in sight coupled by the movie’s craze and summer season, Jalsa’s doesn’t budge from the top spot at boxoffice. Reports from Sify ( read report ) from Chennai state that the movie which opened with 6 screens claimed the number two spot in the city. Says Meenakshi Sundaram of Mayajaal: "For the first time for a non Tamil film we are having six shows daily, due to the pressure for tickets." The movie is still going housefuls in Movieland and PVR Kormangla in Bangalore.
In Hyderabad too, the movie is strong in collections with the drastic reduction in theatres. Instead of getting similar gross and lower shares by having more theatres, the distributors reduced the screen count to get higher shares from each screen. The movie reached the 8-crore share mark in Nizam territory, 3.75 crores away from being the highest grosser in that circuit. In the second week in Utthar Andhra, the movie collected nearly 1 crore sharing, taking its two week total gross to 2.75 crore and share to 2.35 crores. The two weeks share in Guntur is 1.66 crores. The movie amassed a share of 1.52 crores for the second week in Krishna district. Inspite of mixed reviews, the movie had a very strong opening from the first weekend itself in the overseas territory. The movie is closing in on Bommarillu and Pokiri which share the No.1 spot in different centers. If the second run of the movie too gets a good response, Jalsa is most likely to be the highest grosser in the overseas market too. An official release from the production house Geetha Arts, states that the 2 weeks gross of the film is 32 crores. BoxOfficeMojo (read report) states that Jalsa’s 2nd week gross is nearly 2 million competing with the first week gross of the two big releases of this week – You, Me Aur Hum and Krazzy4. BOM puts Jalsa’s 2 week tally at $7.2 million. With the next set of big releases nearly 3 weeks away the audience, distributors, megafans and producer are doing ‘Jalsa’ big time.

Pawan fans put pressure on Dil Raju
Producer Dil Raju is in fix and under tremendous pressure from power star fans. Dil Raju who is currently producing Parugu with Allu Arjun plans to release the film by this month end. But Pawan Kalyan fans are requesting him to postpone the film to May. As Pawan's Jalsa released recently, they want Parugu not to compete with this.
"We are asking him to put on hold at least till Jalsa completes 50 days run," said a fan.
That means Dil Raju has to postpone the movie till mid May if he succumbs to the pressure.
The film which has been getting delayed for long time for various reasons now gets another dilemma.

Chiru Party office building in Jubilee Hills
Mega Star Chiranjeevi is scheduled to be announce his political party only after completion of by-elections formalities. It would not be as predicted before on 7th April for Ugadi or 14th April on eve of birthday of Ambedkar. This proposal of floating a party would take place only during month of May. Former I A S officer is making the agenda of political party of Chiranjeevi. Looking up to the developments few congress minsters as well about five congress M L A‘s are in regular touch with Chiru and they are all prepared to get into Chiru wagon.Mega Star upcoming political party office is under construction at Jubilee Hills with construction area of 7,000 Square Feet . T D P is no exception, even many leaders are ready to get into Chiru party.
Chiru party in 2 months : Allu Arvind
Allu Arvind - Brother in Law of Chiranjeevi as well a prime force behind Chiru professional and political career, A press meet was organized by Allu Arvind. He stated that Megastar Chiranjeevi will announce political party with in a couple of months, saying so he has put down curtains of confusion in Chiru coming to politics. Arvind stated that Chiru will think many times before taking a decision as its related to crores of Telugu peoples. Chiru will respect public verdict and people wishes, Chiru‘s Blood Bank had covered over 11,11,111 units of blood so far. Arvind stated that Jalsa has nothing to do with his political party.
Power of Jalsa
A partisan crowd might have got their money’s worth from the newly released movie “Jalsa”. All the rest are not really happy with what they are served in the movie. The hype before the release, excellent music numbers, the wizard in Trivikram Srinivas and Pawan Kalyan; all factors failed to make an impact. All hope of a blockbuster fizzled away with the movie’s release. Even the reviews are not encouraging. But the fact that its from Trivikram strongly prompted me to watch the movie.
I must say that I am highly impressed at how Trivikram tried to drive home a very powerful tool i.e., “Visualization”, intertwined into the plot that boosts a political campaign in favor of the actor, Pawan’s brother, the one and only megastar Chiranjeevi (Chiru). There never is a doubt on the popularity that Chiru commands from the people. But with this movie, Chiru’s political campaign has also reached deep into the corners of the jungles which otherwise he wouldn’t have. The messages are loud and clear in relation with the Maoists or Naxalites. The frequent dialogues as politicians and media by Pawan rounded off the political influence in the movie.
The subject, as a movie, conveyed a very strong tool to the common man, “The art of visualization”, practicing which a man could always be comfortable in any situation in his field of interest. The penultimate fight at the temple introduced this to the viewer and carried to the next level in the last fight. The hero clearly knew how to tackle the situation in the fights and hence was very comfortable during the fights [as he has already gone through it in his mind (visualization at the temple fight)]. He has already developed a plan even before the fight has actually started which makes it that much easier to achieve the desired result in the climax fight. This is the vision of the protagonist.
The climax reflects the imagination or negative vision* of the antagonist. The hero pledges to create fear in the antagonist. And fear is an imagination of the self which the hero actually targeted and achieved. Losing a leg and hand during the fight are imaginations that created fear. I think you can all relate to what I am telling here. I hope the message gets across to the audience as the ace writer/director wants it to. Kudos to Trivikram Srinivas in trying to show something new. I knew that he wouldn’t let himself down more than anybody.

Ileana - The highest paid Actress
The talk doing the rounds in film nagar and elsewhere is about Ileana looks and performance. She is now the highest paid actress in Tollywood. Ileana is reported to have received about one crore for acting in the film Bhale Dongalu. We do not know how much she took for her role in Pawan Kalyan‘s Jalsa.
But people who have watched both the films say that Ileana looked glamorous and attractive in Bhale Dongalu in comparison with Jalsa. Even her costumes in Bhale Dongalu were more trendy that those in Jalsa.
Ileana appeared a bit dull in Jalsa but she showed her glamorous best in Bhale Dongalu. But on the other hand, another set of people are saying that Ileana doesn‘t deserve that Rs 1 Cr remuneration and that is too big for her. "Some producers are inflating the remunerations by making over hype. Ileana has nothing big to get that remuneration. Even Charmy deserves better", said an assistant director.

The film assumes importance in the wake of political developments in the State and the speculation that Chiranjeevi might start a Political Party soon. Rumours are rife that the film could revolve around a socio-political story and could be a prelude to the actor's plunge into politics.
Siddarth croons for Devi Sri
Music director Devi Sri Prasad who had actor Siddarth crooning for the musically hit Bommarillu has done it again. Devi Sri had apparently approached Siddarth to sing a song for the Tamil version of Bommarillu and the chocolate boy was more than happy to oblige even though he was not starring in the film. The Tamil version of the film, titled as Santosh Subramanyam, stars Genelia and Jayam Ravi in the lead. The original version had Siddarth paired opposite Genelia.

[Tuesday, April 15, 2008]
Seems like Tollywood is overflowing with soon-to-be-released films this summer. Wondering about what we are saying? There is one more film in the to-be-released-soon list. The latest entry is 'Gadhi No.305 Lo Devudu'.
The versatile Prakash Raj will be donning the lead role in this film, and from the stills of this film that are out we can guess he will be playing the role of God. The same film is being made in Tamil too with the title 'Arai en 305il Kadavul' which means 'God in Room No.305' English.
It is being rumored that Prakash Raj in this film will be donning 5 different roles some of which will be that of Buddha, Vishnu, Jesus, Krishna to name a few. More has been concentrated on the make-up aspect of the film with Prakash Raj spending hours together on the chair to get the make-up right.
It is also said that special wigs were brought from Mumbai for the roles. Director Shankar's 'S' pictures is producing this out-and-out comedy flick and Simbudevan is directing this film. Vidhyasagar has dealt with the music for this film and Balaji has co-produced it.
So get ready for a laugh riot when 'Gadhi No.305 Lo Devudu' hits theatres this Friday, April 18, 2008!

Vikram-Aish in Mani's next?
[Tuesday, April 15, 2008]
Rumor mills are turning hard and fast. The news from the yarn factory is that Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might be soon seen together for a flick directed by Manirathnam.
Sources inside the industry say that the romantic director has narrated a story to Vikram and also he has narrated the same script to Aish too. Right now Vikram is busy going places for his next film 'Mallanna'.
Aish too is busy with her dated for superstar's 'Robot' as well as another flick by Manirathnam, where Aish will be seen pairing with her hubby, Abhi. Sources in Tollywood imply that if all goes well the Vikram-Mani project will take off this year it self.
Vikram has set the hearts of his fans in Tollywood on fire with his spellbinding performance in 'Aparichithudu'. The talks going around Kollywood also suggest that Vikram will be sharing screen space with Aishwarya Rai for this yet-to-be titled Manirathnam flick.
Though we cannot say for sure if this story is true, but what we can do is bring you more updates on this story as and when we hear it. So keep watching this space only on Indiaglitz for more updates!

Priya Mani with Nitin
Priya Mani with Nitin
Esther Sunita [April 15, 2008, 3:58:38 PM]
Priya Mani has been looking for offers desperately for some time. She acted in films like Pellaina Kotthalo, Toss, Bhayya, etc. She also acted in Yamadonga opposite Jr. NTR. But it was another co-star from the film, Mamata Mohandas, who has bagged more offers than Priya Mani.
Priya Mani also made a statement some time back that she would only act with young heroes. This has also resulted in her not getting many new offers.
She has now bagged a role opposite Nitin in a new film to be made by T.V. Kumar, a newcomer who will direct this film. Kelly Dorjee and Dr. Sivakumar will play special roles in the film.

Rajiv Kanakala plays the male lead. G. Vijaykumar Gowd is the producer. SA Rajkumar is the music director. "I and Yandamuri earlier did about a dozen films, including the blockbusters of Chiranjeevi like Challenge, Rakshasudu, Maranamridangam and others. Now, I am happy to direct Mumaith Khan as Nagin. We chose the title Punnami Nagu, as it is apt to the subject and also popular as the title of Chiranjeevi's film in 1980," said Kodandarami Reddy. "I am playing a strange Nagin, who doesn't believe in revenge, but love," said Mumaith Khan. It is not based on any novel, but a straight filmi subject, said its writer Yandamuri. Rajiv Kanakala said it was his luck to be working with senior technicians. The film will have regular shoot from month end.
Balakrishna's Pandurangadu film details
Unit members of Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest film Pandurangadu today held a media briefing at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad. The event coincided with the Telugu New Year Day (Ugadi) and it is the first ever announcement after the movie was launched. Hero Balakrishna, director K. Raghavendra Rao, producer Krishna Mohan, Viswanath, Suddala Ashok Teja, Chandrabose, senior actor Balayya, LB Sriram, Sameer, Apoorva, Suhasini, JK Bharavi and others took part in the function. RK Associates is making this film.
Balakrishna said: "This is my second film with RK Associates, which earlier did Apoorva Sahodarulu with me. Panduranga Mahatyam, which starred my father NTR with producer being my uncle (chinnanna) Trivikrama Rao, completed 50 years last year. It is divine providence that I am acting in the remake of this film now. There is uniqueness in this film compared to its original. Here, you have additional characters. I feel honoured to be doing the son to veteran Viswanath. The movie's success depends on the collective efforts. I am thankful to one and all."
K. Viswanath said: "I heard a lot many things about director Raghavendra Rao. He is such a man who remains dead serious for two seconds and frolic for another 58 seconds in a minute. His moods are not be understood by anybody. He holds dual personality, which at the same time enhanced the levels of creativity. I have learnt so many things from him. I would be using the knowledge in my coming films. KRR is like one man army. He doesn't depend on writer, music director or cinematographer. I feel like doing one more film under his direction."
MM Keeravani said: "NTR is my evergreen hero both in reel and real life. It is my sheer luck to score music for Pandurangadu, which has Balakrishna, enacting the role of his father (my hero). I credit the success of the music to the entire team – Suddala Ashok Teja and Chandrabose. I dedicate the audio of Pandurangadu to TV Raju, who originally scored music for Panduranga Mahatyam. Both of us belong to one village near Rajahmundry."
Script writer JK Bharavi said that the audio would be released at Chilakalapudi, near Machilipatnam on April 27th.
Tabu and Sneha costarred Balakrishna in the film. The other prominent cast includes Sunil, Dharmavarapu, Prasad Babu, Ananth, Y. Vijaya, Suhasini etc.

Kalidasu - Review
Kalidasu (Sushanth) loses his father (Nagababu) at his childhood. He also kills the killer of his dad on the spot. After killing the goon, the boy runs away to Guntur. A lady (Jayasudha) brings up Kalidasu like her own son. Brought up in a rugged manner, he will not leave anybody whoever attacks his family members. Grown up, he becomes a car lifter. One day, he finds a girl Archana (Tamanna) in the dickey of a stolen car. The girl, who parents are dead, has a huge landed property. Land sharks eye on the land. In search of a safe place, the girl has reached Kalidasu's place. The villains trace the girl and kidnap her. The hero leaves for Hyderabad to get her back. He achieves the mission after heavy action and drama.
Sushanth, the grandson of ANR and nephew of Nag, made his debut with this film. Though it happens to be his debut film, he displayed excellent histrionics with fine dialogue delivery, stunts and emotions. Tamanna, who recently sizzled in the film Happy Days, looked a bit fatty in this film, which, however, is nice to look. She exposed considerably, providing the oomph to the audiences. Vinodh Kumar appeared as a villain, while Ajay played his sidekick. Jayasudha's sentimental role as mother is routine. Ravicharan Reddy made his debut as director with this film. He also provided the story and screenplay. He concentrated much on stunts and dances, while ignoring the narration. Reddy succeeded in molding each characterization, but he couldn't make the same synch with the running story. Dialogues are good and energetic in the film, but one can easily find that there are a good number of censor cuts. Music by Chakri is average, while songs proved to be speed breakers for the narration. This factor is more so in the second half. The comedy factor is also limited, while Sunil shoulders the responsibility. Cinematography is good.
All about Parugu
What is all about Parugu?
It's a feel good film. Ninety percent of the film is over and the remaining would be finished in a week. Works related to dubbing and other postproduction works are going on at a brisk pace. If everything goes well in tune with our planning, we will be ready to release the film on April 25th. Music will be released on my birthday.
How are you going to celebrate this birthday?
I am not that much particular about the occasion. It all depends on the prevailing moods. Now that I am shooting for Parugu, naturally, the event holds some importance for the unit members and I will be celebrating the same amidst them, though I wish to do it with my parents and friends. Even before also, I enjoyed my birthday moments on the sets of Aarya. Now, my family members too are engaged to different works at different places.
Last time you went to Bangkok to join Ramcharan's birthday celebrations. Will he be joining you here this time?
Ha ha ha! That time I was free. No shooting. So, I left for Bangkok and joined the merriment. If he (Ramcharan) is free, then he might come. But, you all know, he is very busy with shooting. Just look. I couldn't attend his recent birthday as I was busy with shooting for Parugu.
Previously, you did Aarya with Dil Raju as producer. Now, you are doing the second film with Raju. What is the difference now?
Of course, there's no big difference in real sense. That time, it was Devi Sri Prasad who scored music, now its Mani Sharma. Then, it was Sukumar as director, now its Bhaskar. The remaining cast and crew is almost the same. That time – me, Dil Raju and Sukumar had no much recognition in the industry. But, after Aarya, our fortunes changed. I am very hopeful that Parugu will also become a blockbuster like Aarya.
You sported a macho look with a six-pack-figure in your previous film. But your body language is different now. Why such a drastic difference?
Yes. That sort of look was a must for Desamuduru. So, I took on that figure. I always like to bring in some difference in each of my films. Coming to Parugu, the figure which I look like now is required. So, I am maintaining it.
Even if you don't agree, you certainly have a mass image. But, Parugu seems to be a soft film. Do you think, it will satisfy your fans?
I agree that I have an iota of mass image. At the same time, Parugu is a soft film. Though I hold a mass image, its not limited to action roles alone. But, there is no much concentration on the action part in this film, but its done with in the dance segment. The stunts are part and parcel of the moving story, and don't have particular crop-up. But, I assure one and all that my fans will enjoy this movie a lot.
What is the point which prompted you to accept Parugu project? Tell us about the specialties of its director Bhaskar.
For each and every story, there will have a core subject. Definitely, I can't tell you the storyline now, but it's a beautiful subject. It's a conflict between two generations. That is all for now. Coming to director Bhaskar, he is simply superb. He has that uncanny knack of extracting the best performance from the artistes. Seeing Bommarillu, we thought he had immense talent. But, while working with him, I found that he was surrounded by thousands of papers, which showed that he would prepare multiple versions of certain striking scenes. It's not an exaggeration. A workaholic, Bhaskar will sure shine the brilliant and brightest in the near future.
It is heard you are involved in the administration of Geeta Arts. Are you going to produce too?
Yes. I too wish to do production activities. But, I can't say when it would actually happen. But, I am surely going to become a producer one day.
If it happens (that you becoming a producer), will you be starring in that film, or prefer to post some other hero?
Definitely, I will not be acting. It would be somebody else, preferably from our family heroes.
Will it be on Geeta Arts banner or will you be floating a separate banner?
Surely, it will be on Geeta Arts banner only.
It seems Parugu took a very long time to shoot?
If you want a quality film, then it would always take time. But it is not the only reason. There are a good number of senior and busy artistes in the film. It is a big task to coordinate with their call sheets. We can't blame anyone. Supposing we want to shoot a scene involving the participation of a good number of artistes, then everything is ready. Suddenly, there is a downpour. Naturally, shooting is cancelled. We have to wait for some other day to coordinate with the call sheets. It is because of these practical problems, Parugu got delayed. Now, we are happy. The output came out wonderfully. Of course, you will see that.
What about the music?
For the first time I am doing in the music direction of Mani Sharma. He gave us fantastic music, more of melody in tune with the title and mood of the film. Though you will have a feel that the mass beats are missing, they will soon become memorable.
Always you keep your routine in tact. It might be shooting, or dance practice or gym. Don't you think you are missing something in your life, so young?
Is it missing? In fact, there is nothing that we miss in our personal life. If we say like that, it is only a dramatic statement. Everybody likes to be his own in his personal life. All these words of missing something are just trash.
On reel life, you are busy romancing. What about real life?
Shall ask you one thing? Who on earth will remain without loving somebody? I am not an exception. I am also in love. But I will be happy if you have not asked such questions and me, not answering them. But, I will give some clue. That girl doesn't come from film fraternity.
What about your hobbies?
Traveling and going places. I love music. I watch all kinds of films, regular and offbeat. Spending time with friends is my favorite.
Did you see Jalsa. How's it?
Yes, on the very release day. How can I miss that? I liked it like anything as I saw Pawan Kalyan in such agility only after Kushi. Me and Akira (babai Pawan's son) are going to celebrate our birthday on 8th. Akira is the hero for coming generation.
Tell us about your costar Sheela?
She is a good performer. That's it.
Of all your heroines, Sheela happens to be not that much glamorous?
Nothing like that. All the heroines with whom I worked so far are from the North. Sheela is the first for me from the South. The complexion might differ, due to region-based climates. But, Sheela is a superb performer. She is pretty much apt for that particular role.
Sekhar Suri's thriller titled Three
Sekhar Suri, who earlier delivered a surprising thriller A film by Aravind, is directing yet another thriller with the same lead as in A film by Aravind: Rajeev Kanakala and Rishi. Raj India Entertainments banner is producing this film titled Three. Phani is producing this film. Urvasi Sharma is the heroine and Vijay Koorakala is the music director. Senthil and Bhaskar are handling the camera. Production is almost complete for the film. Three will release in June.

Jalsa Review..............Its Good
Pawan Kalyan’s Jalsa opened to huge crowds on 2nd April 2008. Labeled as the most awaited movie of the season it is no surprise that Jalsa was surrounded by immense hype and hoopla.
Did live up to the expectations? Well, the question can only be answered after a few days when the hype gets settled down and the normal cinegoers start hitting the theatres.
For now, the film has generated divided talk all over especially in the mass centers. However, this can't be the deciding factor for the fate of the film as this film is a truly class act… directed at families and youth audience. Of course the title itself suggests what the film will offer and yes, you can do Jalsa in the theatres as the film entertains you all the way.
Other than a few glitches in the screenplay Jalsa does what it is intended to do. The main drawback of the film is raising the naxalism topic and also canning a few scenes on that point. Though the idea is good it does not fit into the mood of the film. Although the entire episode lasts hardly for 15 minutes it has shown impact on the film heavily. Especially, with that episode the jovial and fun loving protagonist Sanjay Sahu's characterization dropped down and in turn has left many loopholes in the script.
Music is lilting to the ears and the picturization stands out in U & I, Karo Karo Jalsa songs. Action part is another plus point. None of the fights last long, but they had the necessary “Power” punch!
Pawan Kalyan is at his best in Sanjay Sahu's role. He did marvelous job in playing the role tailor made for him. His antics and mannerisms will be a treat to his fans, and they will feel that Khushi days are back. Ileana is cute. Parwati Melton is ok. Mukesh Rushi is terrific as the antagonist. Prakash Raj does his usual self. Furthermore, the ever green comedian Brahmanandam has another feather in his cap as hilarious Pranav! Sunil too tickles your funny bone.
Not to forget the Superstar Mahesh who lent his voice for this film and his work is as sweet as Jalsa. He has to be commended.
Trivikram once again proves that he is the “dialogs guru” of Tollywood. He did a splendid job as a writer. His direction skills are good too but have to concentrate on screenplay writing.
