The makers of ‘Mouna Raagam’ count on music to do the magic again
Whether the scripts are based on rural or urban backdrop, feel-good family themes are their forte. After the big hit, Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule (AMAV), producers N.V. Prasad and Sanam Naga Ashok Kumar are back with another movie in that genre — Mouna Raagam. Produced under Sri Sai Deva Productions (P) Ltd., it has Taneesh, Madhurima and Suhasini (of Chantigadu fame) in the lead. The talent hunting producers are introducing Vijay Balaji as the film's director and Saman Mitro as the cinematographer. S.A. Rajkumar scored some lilting melodies.
To film one of those rocking melodies, the unit chose the aluminum factory in Gachibowli as the location. "The composition of the song is such that it needs a rugged ambience and we chose this one," informed Naga Ashok Kumar as the unit members from various crafts are making the necessary arrangements for the shoot.
The location is normally used for action blocks and the climax scenes. In recent films, one can find song picturisations too done here to give that raw, earthy look. Choreographer Sobhie Paul is overseeing the final rehearsal of his 20-strong group while Taneesh and Madhurima watch their steps to follow suit. Saman Mitro's assistants check the light. Vijay Balaji supervises the entire activity on the monitor screen. Vanamali's lyric to the beat scored by Rajkumar blasts from the nagra. It is a different world, the world of make-believe.
Once the shoot starts one wonders at the energy levels as the lead pair and the dancers gyrate to the fast beats that did not miss its melodious touch. "Our music has never failed," guffaws Ashok Kumar. "Take our super hits Subhakankshalu, Vasantham, AMAV or Manickyam; the music has been a sell out. Of the seven songs in this film, we have shot five in and around Hyderabad, in Sri Sailam and in parts of Telangana area. The talkie part of the shoot is complete. The remaining song will be shot on the lead actors at Golconda fort from October 24. The lyrics are by Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar and choreography by Kalyan."
Taneesh made his debut with Nachchavule and consolidated his position in the industry with his second film Ride, a runaway hit. He is on the verge of a hat-trick. Bengal-born and Mumbai-bred Madhurima is working her way up in Telugu films. Taneesh plays a good hearted boy-next-door kind of a character. Madhurima plays a chirpy happy-go-lucky girl. Suhasini who plays a college student adds value to the story by completing the triangle.
"This film has more than a regular triangular love story to tell. The characters, especially that of the hero's, can be identified by everybody in the family. As the title suggests, it is a silent love story. Sometimes silence speaks a lot. At one stage of life or the other, everyone experiences certain feelings that are inexplicable that gives us joy. Mouna Ragam is based on one such beautiful feeling; it is a musical love story," says Ashok Kumar.
The movie will release in the last week of November.
