Anushka’s dates were hard to get: Babu Sivan

Director Babu Sivan, the man behind Ilayathalpathi Vijay’s next mass film Vettaikaran, is obviously excited over his movie and the way it’s come out. Apparently he grabbed Vijay's attention during the Kuruvi shoot – that’s when he got the opportunity to narrate the story to him – and then and there, Vijay flashed the green light!


So what is Vettaikaran about? “When people make trouble, it’s the cops who come to set things right. But when wild animals create havoc, it’s the hunter who has to be called in. That’s the one-liner which describes the movie,” says the director. Well, that’s quite an exciting way to put it. Now, one can be absolutely sure that the movie has tons of action sequences, with Vijay obviously playing the hunter [Vettaikaran].


Providing the glam quotient is Anushka. “She is the top heroine in Telugu now. Getting her dates was amongst the hardest things I went through for Vettaikaran,” he jokes. Adding, “Anushka did just one Tamil movie and then went of to Tollywood. It was her performance in Arundhati that really caught my attention. She’s not only a beautiful girl, but also a good actress. I knew at once that she should be the heroine of my movie. She plays an IT professional in the movie. She’s a very lively, self-motivated girl – the kind of woman who inspires her man to achieve great things.”
