Allu Arjun's 'Midnight Act'!

Stylish star Allu Arjun seems to be getting symbolized for mischief, energy and partying. This time, it was said to be the after premiere party which took place on the eve of his latest movie ‘Arya 2’. Arjun was seen cool as a cucumber during the premiere show and was dressed to kill as usual.

Sources reveal that after the premiere, there was a party organized and our man was up on the toes up to morning 4.30 am. It is heard that he spent his time in drink and dance and let his hair loose. Those who were present said that it looked like he was relieving himself of stress.

Well, the gossip also says that where there is ‘Bunny’ (his pet name), there are beautiful babes around. And what’s a party without pretty girls? So yeah, it was a frolicking time for the young hero and given the outcome of the film, some say that the celebration has happened too soon.

Where Tollywood Is Heading After 'Magadheera'?

There is a new trend that is being observed in Tollywood and this seems to be sending a wrong signal to the trade pundits. Well, it is said that the budgets of film making, especially big banners, have been going exorbitant and a question has risen as to how justified it will be in terms of box office returns.

This is happening after the mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’. Apparently, the film was made at a budget of Rs 34 crores and we now hear that a line up of movies is in that bracket. There is ‘Adurs’ being made at Rs 33 crores, ‘Komaram Puli’ at Rs 35 crores, ‘Mr Perfect’ at Rs 40 crores.

Now, the analysts say that setting such high standards in terms of budget is going to make things difficult if one has to make profits. While there are those who say that this goes to show the strength of the industry, given the Tollywood economics of hits and flops, the figures are causing a concern.

Arya2 Second Hero's Future In 'Om Shanti'

The film ‘Arya 2’ came in with good hype but fizzled out in no time. However, the good side of this is it has given the second male lead Navdeep a good screen presence. Though the talented young hero was said to be keen on scoring a hit with this one it didn’t work.

Now, the time has come for Navdeep to take the litmus test on his own. He is doing the lead role in the new movie ‘Om Shanti’ and this time, he is pairing up with the saucy seductress Kajal Agarwal. Apparently, the film also has Nikhil, Bindu Madhavi, Aditi Sharma in the lead roles.

Many say that the future of Navdeep rests on the outcome of this movie and to add if he comes up with a good act as usual; the result has to be seen at the box office only. It is a crucial time for Navdeep since it has been quite a while that he actually made himself viable commercially.

Jr NTR's Bride In Ramoji's HUF

The news is hot that many Kamma biggies are looking out for a bride to Jr NTR. Sources say that Ramoji Rao is keener in searching for a girl in his relation. Ramoji has got huge regards for NTR, the senior and Nandamuris on a whole. His support always stands for TDP as known to all.

As Ramoji too believes that the future of TDP is in the hands of Jr NTR and he is the one who has got right mass following as well as caliber to entice people, he is making no stone unturned to bring him into his relation.

We all know that Ramoji has got a very big HUF (Hindu Undivided Family). Ramoji is searching for a bride in that group to wedlock with Jr NTR as per reports.

Hero Reveals Clue About Genelia Affair!

From a long time, there has been a game of hide and seek happening when it comes to the link up between the bubbly beauty Genelia and the Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh. Though both sides have vehemently denied any such thing and maintained that they are just ‘good friends’, here is something interesting.

It seems that recently Genny got into the networking site Twitter and the person to make the announcement about her formal entry was Riteish himself. It seems that the words read "Hey guys, welcome @geneliad to twitterverse, my first n my most favourite co-star."

While this has raised a few eyebrows as to why Riteish had to take the efforts to introduce Genny, they are consoling themselves to see that he has revealed how ‘favorite’ she is. Well, perhaps in the time to come, the real truth will be revealed and the ‘special friend’ might become someone really special.

Director Irritated With Heroine's Dumb Nature

They say that it is hard to find beauty and brains together and that seems to be holding good for the angel of beauty Katrina Kaif. All this is happening in Bollywood for the film ‘Rajneeti’ and the man who is said to be hitting the roof is none other than the famous Prakash Jha.

Apparently, Katrina’s role is said to be based on the character of Sonia Gandhi and Prakash has been working hard on giving the heroine a very deglamorised look. However, it is heard that everyday Kats used to arrive with a different look which irked the director and he had to get the make up man to redo the entire process.

To add to the woes, Katrina was heard saying that she doesn’t see any difference in herself and is just the same. Performance oriented roles often have to go along with continuity and perhaps Katrina should have known this by now. Well, for now, it looks like Prakash is on the receiving end.

'Priyamani and Jagapathy Hot-Hot With Dec 4th Treat'

They are now being deemed as the ideal onscreen pair, and that too for the family audience. They are none other than prime star Jagapathi Babu and the buxom beauty Priyamani. Both paired in the film ‘Pellaina Kotthalo’ and since then, their movies have been appealing the Telugu audience in a good way.

Now, they are coming together for a new movie and this one is titled ‘Pravarakhyudu’. The film is hitting the screens on December 4th and already, the stills and the glamorous presence of Priyamani has been causing a lot of stir. This time, the masala dose is higher than their earlier movies, as per sources.

To add to it, the presence of the tall sizzler Hamsa Nandini is another visual feast. The film is directed by Madan and produced by Indukuri Ganesh. The music has been composed by the veteran M M Keeravani. So get ready for the hot-hot treat in this chilly winter folks.

Senior Producer Devi Vara Prasad hospitalised

If one remembers films like ‘Chattamtho Poratam’, ‘Kondaveeti Raja’, ‘Gharana Mogudu’, ‘Alluda Majaka’, ‘Mrugaraju’, etc., they should also know that all these films were produced by K Devi Vara Prasad. Yes! He is one of the successful producers in Tollywood who ruled the roost in 1980s and 90s. Now the producer is said to be suffering from ill health due to diabetics and had just discharged from hospital. He was in ICU for the past four days. Ragalahari wishes him a speedy recovery.

Mahesh Babu-Sreenu Vytla film under 14 Reels Entertainment

Mahesh Babu might not have done even a single film from the past two years. But the actor is going to be busy for the next few years from now onwards. Yes! This is very healthy news not just for Mahesh fans but for all movie goers. Just a few days ago Mahesh Babu himself announced in a press conference that he is going to do a film under RR Movie Makers. The film is ‘Mr Perfect’ with Surender Reddy to be launched in June 2010.

Now Prince has signed yet another film with 14 Reels Entertainment under the direction of Sreenu Vytla. This project is really going to be a crazy one as we all know about Sreenu Vytla’s hit after hit formula.

Announcing this at a press conference Mahesh said, “This is going to be a romantic mass entertainer in different perspective. The concept is very new and the film will be shot with a super 35 mm camera, which is going to be for the first time in his career. The film’s first half will be shot in North India.”

Producers of the film are Achanta Gopichand, Achanta Ram and Anil Sunkara. They are currently producing a film titled ‘Namo Venkatesa’ starring Venkatesh and Trisha under Sreenu Vytla’s direction. Incidentally they are again going to produce their consecutive film again with Sreenu Vytla but with hero Mahesh Babu. The film will hit the floors in February and the remaining details will be announced shortly. Stay tuned.

Kalam denies participation in Indo-French film

Former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam has denied the reports that he is appearing in an Indo-French film titled I Am Kalam.

A statement from Kalam’s office said: "Kalam has no plans to act or associate with any film. The news is only a speculation and it is the individual’s imagination with a business motive."

The rumours on Kalam's participation in a film started to spread after some leading websites quoted Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover as saying that Kalam "has given a shot as himself in the movie."

Asked to comment on Kalam’s denial, Gulshan said: "The film has been made (with) Kalam’s blessings and has been inspired by his story. He has given a shot as himself in the movie. He has not acted as an actor."

"I stand by what I say. We don’t want to disrespect him. He (Kalam) is a man of integrity. We are indebted to him for the movie, and the movie is nothing without him," Gulshan added.

Sex Toys Among Hi-Fi Hyderabad Ladies

Sexual fantasies are something that is usually a dreamy state but did you know that there are a few who convert such dreams into reality. Well, that is happening in the creamy layer of Hyderabad right now and it has got all fantasies and other jiggies for sex becoming a possibility.

This is being seen in the high profile ladies of the city and they are said to be importing sex toys. As for the men, it is heard that there are sex dolls which go upto 6000$ and they look so real that many are in awe looking at it. But more than the men, it is the women who are said to be keen on such toys.

It seems that they are getting stuff like dildos, vibrators and other toys that go upto $ 200 and more. Incidentally, all these are getting directly imported into the city without any hassles. Many say that if this continues, the day is not far when we will get to see shops of such sorts in Hyderabad.

Art Director Ashok Vs Lagadapati Sridhar's 'Style-2'

The LARSCO banner headed by the industrious Lagadapati Sridhar has been known for its movies and now, they are all set to take off with a new venture. Sources say that this has been tentatively titled as ‘Rumba’ and this happens to be the sequel to the super hit movie ‘Style’.

The film marks the debut of Art director Ashok as a director. Ashok is a known name in the Telugu circuit though he happens to be a Malayali. The highlight for this project is that the music will be composed by the international flute maestro Nagaraju, known as Flute Nagaraju.

Currently, the ground work is on and further details would be announced once the concrete shape takes place. Given the dance flavor in the first part, the expectations are high on this one and this would be a good platform for many talented individuals to show their mettle. All are appreciating Lagadapati for starting this project. Meanwhile Lagadapati Sridhar said that his ‘Sneha Geetam’ is releasing in Jan ‘2010.

Commercial Angle In 'Art Film Making'

It is often noticed that the very mention of the word ‘art film’ tends to bring a frown on the face of many masses. They assume it to be a rather boring and with a black and white message sans entertainment, glamour and visual appeal.

However, the recent trends have shown an enormous increase in the number of movie makers showing interest towards art movies. While some among the group consider movie making as an art and a means to spread message and awareness in the society, there is also another group that has got its head in this art as well.

Apparently, they have listed out few benefits of making an art film. Firstly, the recognition factor would be much higher given the fact that it is going to be global and the patrons would be higher.

To add to that, if the film is good, then they tend to win awards during international film festivals. Once that happens, there are chances that it may get Indian National award. With that, the government has got a policy wherein the Doordarshan gives Rs 15 lakhs. Added to that, there are many local celebrities who are connoisseurs of such art movies and as patrons; they would give a few lakhs as encouragement (it happened for Tanikella Bharani’s ‘Sira’ where CC Reddy presented Rs 1 Lakh and others some more lakhs in different screenings of the movie).

The icing on the cake is that on a whole, the investment factor will be just between Rs 5- Rs 15 lakhs. There are times when folks earned almost 4 times the investment. For producers, it is definitely better than making a commercial film @ Rs 25 crore and shedding tears once it bites mud. Indeed, not every commercial film can be a Magadheera or Kick.

While the commercial angle in this art film making seems to be quite tempting, there are enough challenges in this genre. Creating awareness and getting to spread the word is one major hurdle. Also, with many talented youngsters showing interest in this field, the competition has become high and with the little awareness, even the film festival audience has also increased in good numbers.

Earlier, it was just cities like Delhi, Mumbai that had such events but now even places like Hyderabad, Chennai, Cochin have got into it extensively and are promoting art films in a big way. True art film lovers say that there is a need for such films to come to the society since the message they have is clean and creates an impact to improve the current conditions.

The statistics of making such movies has already been shown to you. What’s your take on this?!

Why it sucks to market movies in Andhra Pradesh? My presentation at the FICCI Frames by Allu Sirish

My presentation at the FICCI Frames:
I was presenting at the FICCI Frames MEBC (Media and Entertainment Business Conclave, Chennai) that took place on November 18-19th, 2009. The market leaders of various verticals of the entertainment industry made presentations on their fields. Arvind Ranganathan, CEO Real Image spoke on the digitization of cinema. Kunal Kohli, Rajamouli, Mani Ratnam discussed content. FX Labs & Intel made its presentation on the gaming industry. You get the picture. Other than hearing these people talk, we also get to interact with them in a Q&A session and later during lunches and tea-break.

I had the opportunity to present in the segment “Lobbying for Change: The role of trade bodies & censorship.” It was a priviledge to be on the panel which was moderated by none other than Mr Kamal Haasan himself. The other panelists were R Prasad, Competition Commission of India, Babu Ramaswami, Censor Board Chief, Gnana Rajashekaran, ex Censor Board member. Mr Prasad from the Competition Commission said that the CCI monitor unfair trade practices in businesses in India. They’d then investigate and if required make recommendations to the government to pass laws and decisions that challenge the practices in that specific business. Most of the discussion in the panel was about Censorship in India. It was a really interesting debate, but I am going to skip that. My agenda was to highlight the archaic practices of the Telugu Film Producer’s Council. I was given exactly 6 minutes to speak as there was a shortage of time. My presentation too had only 5 slides. Here, I am going to expand on what I spoke. A majority of my presentation was again was on the restrictive advertising rules of the Telugu Film Producer’s Council (TFPC). I also spoke about the home-video and satellite restrictions.

Also See : CNN-IBN’s clip about FICCI-Frames, where I was featured.

How the Telugu Film Producer’s Council functions:
Before I start off, my father – Allu Arvind was one of the members on the council when the rules that prevail today were formed in the late 1990s. He’s still on board as an executive committee member. In its mission on why the TFPC was formed, it states that to give “equal publicity opportunities to all producers irrespective of their projects and budgets.” The very foundation of the Council is ‘socialism’ or ‘everyone is equal’. The TFPC did a great service to the industry by subsidizing the rates for movie trailers on TV channels. Basically to understand my argument, you should know how the industry functions.

What an “Entertainment Rate”?
The market rates for the 10-second advertisement spot on television, known as TVCs (television commercials) varies between Rs 7,000 to Rs 30,000 on non-news channels like Gemini TV, Teja, Maa TV and ETV. Ideally, a 30 second advertisement would cost a brand anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000. Most of them buy the minutes in bulk on an annual basis. These are the going rates for commercial products such as real estate, soap, mobile phone, TV, insurance and all other ads you see on TV. The rates for a movie trailer in Andhra Pradesh and Bollywood market is usually, a fraction of the commercial rates. This is known as the “entertainment rate”. For ex : A 10 second spot on ETV costs Rs 1965, while on Gemini it costs Rs 2265. This concession is mainly because movie trailers also have ‘entertainment value’ for the channel and of interest to the audience too.

This subsidy would have saved crores of rupees to the industry over the years. Such a subsidy does not exist for tamil films in Tamil Nadu. They pay commercial rates to channels. The TV spend of a big-budget tamil film would be around the Rs 1 crore mark, where a big-budget telugu producer would only spend Rs 20-25 lakh! You might be thinking, whats the problem when everything is so cheap for us?

You cannot customize your campaign:
But, this system also has its pitfalls. A producer cannot go to a channel directly and buy the spots. He has to route it through the TFPC. The Council earns a small commission on the sales of TV spots (fair enough!). But you cannot pick the timing and number of airplays of your trailer gets. The TFPC creates a “playlist” of all the trailers submitted to it, which includes small, big and dubbed films. Each TV channel has specific times (usually non-primetime) when it plays movie trailers. And during those spots, the channel plays the entire trailers given by the Council. All trailers get equal airplay. For ex : If there is 12 minutes of time available for a channel on an evening, and the TFPC has 6 trailers of 30 seconds, each trailer gets played four times. Of course, first preference is given to straight telugu films, dubbed Indian films get second preference and international films get the last preference.

A producer cannot demand for more airplay then what he gets. If he feels his film is not getting the visibility it deserves, he cannot buy more spots. A movie budget made on a budget of Rs 2 crores and a one that’s made with Rs 40 crore should survive with the same resources. If he buys spots directly from the channel and screen trailers, he will be issued with a “non-cooperation” which means he will be banned by the TFPC. A ban means being cut-off from a lot of resources for the Producer. He cannout function in the industry if banned.

Restriction in Print Media:
This restriction is not just for TV, but also print media. You can only issue quarter-page ads in newspapers on five occasions – a Coming soon ad, a day before release, on the day of release, on the 50th day and on the 100th day. If the producer advertises more than that – he will be served a notice by the TFPC and asked to explain on why the rules were violated.

The funny bit is these rules were formed in 1999, when radio advertising, internet, outdoor were not big advertising mediums. So the TPFC does not have any rules pertaining to radio, outdoor, internet and mobile advertising! A producer is free to spend or do whatever on these mediums. Click here to see for yourself on the TFPC’s website.

Andhra Pradesh 1999 v/s 2009:
These rule worked perfectly fine back then. People had only three channels to watch – ETV, Gemini and Teja. Eenadu had near monopoly with Vaartha being a distant second. Andhra Jyothy was not relaunched, while Saakshi and Surya were not born yet. The internet had a very limited presence, unlike today. In 1999, Andhra Pradesh had only 9,38,000 cellphone connections. Today we have over 3,76,00,000 mobile subscribers (2.65 crore GSM , 1.1 crore CDMA . To keep it simple, if you advertised on the Sun and Eenadu’s media, you’ve captured almost all of your audience. But, today the audience is totally fragmented. We (a film) have to be present across various mediums to grab their eyeballs. Andhra audiences have nearly 20 channels (entertainment and news) to watch! We have five telugu newspapers (Saakshi, Eenadu, Vaartha, Andhra Jyothy and Surya). Add to that English newspapers (Deccan Chronicle, Times of India, The Hindu and Indian Express). Five radio networks playing telugu music – Radio Mirchi, Radio City, Red FM, Big FM and All-India Radio. Film hoardings dominate the Rs 100 crore, outdoor advertising market in Andhra Pradesh.

The Blockbuster campaign:
To get a blockbuster opening, the movie needs to be present everywhere, constantly reminding the audience that the movie is coming up and encash it at the boxoffice on the opening weekend. But the current restrictions by the TFPC does not allow that, crippling the producer. We cannot create huge buzz just through a few trailer spots and print ads. Even today, inspite of the emergence of newer mediums, TV and print have the biggest share of eye-balls. Andhra Pradesh has nearly a crore homes with TV connections, with about four crore viewers. Between them the top 5 newspapers reach nearly 2.5 crore readers. The producer does not have a free hand in trying to reach these audiences.

Enter – Co-branded advertising:
Today, the cost of advertising has shot up multiple fold. A full page ad in Saakshi or Eenadu can cost upto Rs 40 lakh! A 10-second spot on a top TV program can sell for Rs 35,000! This is where “co-branded advertising” comes in. This is a case, where a brand and movie come together and promote their respective products. The brand could be anything from a mobile phone, bike, beverage to an insurance company. The brand and movie come together create a campaign promoting both products, by creating a ‘connect’ between a brand and the movie. Hollywood pioneered this concept. Bollywood, adapted it well.

Popular co-branded advertisements in Hollywood are that of Sony electronics and James Bond movies, Burger King and Transformer’s co-promotions. Mc Donald’s with Disney and Dreamworks’s animated movies. In India, too popular campaigns were Samsung and Ghajini, Nokia and Om Shanti Om, Pepe Jeans and Dhoom 2. A few images/trailers of popular Hollywood and Bollywood co-branded promotions are present below (at the end of the post). For the 2008 summer blockbuster, Ironman – the four brand partners of the movie – BurgerKing, 7Eleven, Audi and LG Mobile spent over $50 million dollars in promoting the movie. For our movie Ghajini, Tata Indicom, Samsung, Titan, Van Huesen, Tata Sky have spent nearly Rs 10 crores on their co-branded promotions of the movie. We (Geetha Arts), the producers spent another 4 crores on paid advertisement in newspapers, TV channels and radio to create the buzz around our movie. The brand partners that came on board helped us subsidize our costs hugely, yet helped in creating a Rs 14 crore campaign for the movie, which resulted in the movie getting the biggest ever opening for a Hindi film!

Needless to say, the TFPC’s rules do not even recognize “co-branded advertising” as a form of promotion. Any advertisement that uses that film’s imagery of logo is considered a movie ad. Hence, Telugu producers have not been able to attract many brands on being co-branded partners for their movies. Since, advertisement on TV and print is restricted; the collaboration is just restricted to in-store publicity, meet-and-greet and outdoor. This is not of great value to the advertisers. Brand managers and CMOs of many big brands tell me that Andhra Pradesh is a crucial market for them, and that they want to do movie-based promotions as Telugus as the biggest movie buffs in India. But they’re not able to crack deals, as there are many regulatory barriers. If one notices that hoardings in Hyderanbad, you can see while national and global brands pursue big movies, smaller films have been able to attract regional and smaller brands. So, movies of all size can benefit from co-branded advertising.

For ex: For the movie Jalsa, Hyderabad city nearly had 70 hoardings of the movie. Ideally, it would have costed us Rs 50 lakh to run this campaign, considering the hoaring rentals and printing costs. But we were able to do that for a fraction of that cost, as nearly 45 of the hoardings were from our ‘brand partners’ CMR-Chandana Brothers, Big C mobile store and Airtel. Though, our three brand partners were willing to spend on TV spots, print ads – due to the restriction of the TFPC we were not able encash that opportunity.

Bollywood market – An advertiser’s heaven: The Bollywood industry really operates on a ‘free market’ policy. I feel its one of the reasons why it was able to expand rapidly since 2004. There are no barriers to growth through regulation.

In Tamil Nadu and other markets, when a brand has to do a co-branded television promo, they usually buy at regular rates. But for the Hindi/Bollywood market – that’s the not the case. They pay entertainment rates! According to the unofficial rules of the TV industry in Mumbai, if a trailer has 22 seconds of the movie’s visuals it qualifies for an “entertainment rate”. The 22:8 seconds co-branded promotion works really well for advertisers. They’re paying a lower rate for these spots and they’re able to grab eyeballs – as most people switch channels during commercials, but dont when trailers are played. That’s why in Bollywood we see brands tie up even with small and mid-budget movies and run campaigns around them. Through this, the producer too is able to get more TV spots on television, yet not pay the huge monies that are required to do so. Movie-associations are so big in Bollywood, UTV claims in an official press note thatfor one of its films “Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal” it was able to make profits even before its release due to in-film placement from Reebok, Western Union and Gillette. Now, lets do an analytical study on the publicity restriction of the three major entertainment industries of India :

Bollywood v/s Tamil Cinema v/s Telugu Cinema :

Publicity MediumBollywoodTamil CinemaTelugu Cinema
Television
  • Subsidy on television advertising. No restriction on amount spend.
  • Co-branded ads also given ‘entertainment rates’.
  • No subsidy to movie advertising.
  • Co-branded TVCs allowed, but at full rates.
  • Subsidized television rates, restriction on TV spend.
  • ‘Co-branded TVCs’ not allowed even if advertiser is willing to pay full rate
Print
  • No subsidy.
  • No restriction
  • Co-branded promos allowed.
  • No subsidy in rates.
  • But restriction on size, number of paid ads by producer.
  • No restrictions on co-branded promotions.
  • No subsidy.
  • Restrictions on size, number of paid ads.
  • Co-branded ads not allowed.

From the above table it can be understood that, in terms of rules the TFPC has the most restrictive and archaic rules. While the tamil industry doesn’t have subsidies – it isn’t too restrictive either. Bollywood (or Hindi cinema) has best of the both worlds – subsidies and no restrictions. One of the reasons cited by the TFPC for these rules is that its trying to keep the producer’s publicity costs in check, without them overspending? That’s lame. Marketing, today is a fraction of the movie. We still spend the biggest part of the movie’s budgets on remunerations of artistes and directors. Also the fad of shooting for 100s of days. The same TFPC couldn’t impose a restriction on remunerations and budgets of the movie (which the Malayalam Producer’s Council did). Ask anybody in the film business – they’d tell its the talent’s remunerations that have made movies less profitable, and more risky. For a big telugu film, anywhere 40-60% of the movie is spent on remunerations. That is why most of our big films cost over Rs 20 crores to make – but we never see that money on screen. Marketing hardly costs us 5-7% of our budgets. Our industry has grown by so much, we can afford that little extra that goes into marketing a film.

It has been a ritual for Telugu film stars to play cricket for charity in the past few years. The next edition of star cricket to be conducted by MAA (Movie Artists Association) will be held on 14 February. VRK Events has taken the responsibility of staging this event.

It is going to be called MAA Premiere League T20 cup and it will be held in Lal Bahadur Sastri stadium in Hyderabad.

A press meet has been organized regarding the same. Nayantara takes the cake in Simha

So far we all know that Balakrishna’s latest flick ‘Simha’ has two heroines – Sneha Ullal and Namitha. But the twist in the story is that Nayantara is the main female lead and the other two are playing the second fiddle to her. This revelation comes after enough negotiations and compromises. Well! Nice to see Nayantara commanding even now and being a family’s favourite with Jr NTR’s film ‘Adurs’ just had been completed. ‘Simha’ is being directed by Boyapati Srinivas and produced by Parachuri Kiriti. The film is slated to release during Sakranthi.

Ashok Kumar – the art director, will be a director

Ashok Kumar may not be familiar with the movie buffs, but his splendid art work in Mahesh Babu’s ‘Okkadu’ is the highlight of the film. Yes! I’m talking about the Charminar look alike set in ‘Okkadu’. This art director who also won two Nandi awards – one for ‘Okkadu’ in 2003 and the other for ‘Pournami’ in 2006 is all set to turn director shortly. It was Ashok’s long time dream to become a director and it is going to be fulfilled by producer Lagadapati Sridhar. It is learnt that his debut film will be on the backdrop of dance, something similar to Lawrence’s ‘Style’. The cast and crew are still undecided, therefore it will be announced shortly. The film launch will take place on January 14, 2010.

Chandra Babu Naidu’s brother’s son Nara Rohit made a stunning start with the critically acclaimed film ‘Banam’. Not just the film, Rohit also won rave reviews for his remarkable performance in his debut film. Now the actor is getting ready to try his hand on typical commercial based film to be produced by Bellamkonda Suresh. Reports say that Bellamkonda Suresh approached Nara Rohit with an interesting script and also signed him on dotted line. It is also learnt that he is trying to rope in one of the top directors for this flick. Stay tuned for more interesting news on this project.

Sex-Maniac Director Misbehaves With Office-Maid

Sex is something which is good for health but there are times when it can ruin lives. Apparently, for someone who is all charged up, it is hard to control them. There are such individuals in the film industry who don’t think twice when they are turned on, this recent incident is one such example.

It is heard that there is a film director who is known for his strong sexual desires. As it is, his liaisons with the heroines and other junior artistes are little known. Now, he has taken his urge a little lower and it seems that he ended up trying to molest the 35 year old office maid.

Unlike the regular happenings, the maid created quite a scene about it and before things could get out of hand, the director is said to have refrained from the act. However, the lady has left his office and is busy spreading the news. She also recalled few other tales of the director’s sexual adventures with a character artiste which she has witnessed before. All this happened at an office near Annapurna Studios. We are not revealing the names here for obvious reasons. He is coming up with a B-Grade film now.

'Yavadigola Vadidhey-Part2' Shelved @ Over Desires

It was happy news for many when they heard that the sequel to the super hit film ‘Yavadigola Vadidhey’ was hitting the floors. Given the comedy and performances, it was a very creative and enjoyable treat. However, the bad news is that the project is not happening.

Sources reveal that after the success of ‘Bendu Apparao RMP’, director EVV Satyanarayana is not compromising one bit on remuneration. The same is said to be the case with the cast and no one is willing to reduce or negotiate their payments it seems.

Producer Lagadapati Sridhar said that his idea of movie making is not based on success and budget also forms a key aspect. So now, he has decided to go in for a new venture and that too with all new stars. This would be a dream debut for them considering the presence of the big banner. Meanwhile, ‘Yavadigola Vadidhey- part 2’ is shelved.

Sex-Bomb Aunty Looking For ‘Patrons’!

She has been known as the most sought after lady when it comes to doing hot vamp and servant maid roles and though she has been part of the entertainment circuit since long, success has not been able to cooperate. She is known for her itsy bitsy roles in the silver screen and was in good demand. We are talking about Ramya Sree.

It seems that currently, her graphs have been falling down and she is keen on making her comeback with a bang. It is heard that this bomb has been making several rounds to producers and directors so that her basket is full with some role or the other.

While that’s not an easy task, it is also being said that this hot lady has been looking for patrons who need ‘other services’ (be it endorsing any product) as well. Sources close to her say that these are the means of survival and she is doing whatever she can to keep her life moving on. Well, that’s how life can be sometimes.

Jr NTR Gets Right Dance-Competitor

It is often said that when it comes to dance in the Tollywood, the next best man after megastar Chiranjeevi is none other than NTR junior. With his mind blowing moves in the movie ‘Yama Donga’, junior created a major sensation and now there is news that he has got competition.

Well, over a period of time, one young hero has been inching his way when it comes to the moves and he is none other than stylish star Allu Arjun. It all started with ‘Arya’ and now he has repeated the magic with the second part of it. Allu Arjun has come up with some brilliant moves in the film.

Many say that he has got a strong chance to give NTR junior a tough challenge when it comes to the dance slot. Also, with junior meeting up with an accident and having a back injury, many are waiting to see if he has still got the moves or not. This would be known through his movie ‘Adhurs’.

Allu Arjun's Fitness Problems

Stylish star Allu Arjun has often been known for his dance moves but lately, he has begun to grab attention with his physique as well. While his six pack was seen in ‘Desamuduru’, he showed a strong frame in his other movies as well. But his latest ‘Arya 2’ seems to have given a different picture.

Though Arjun has built a lot of mass on him, it is not looking that impressive given his average height. Also, those who were watching the film were heard saying that he seems to have flab on the chest and tummy area. It is more evident in the scene where he comes to village and talks to Mukesh Rishi for the first time. Given the mass that he has built up, it is natural to give that look.

Many suggest that Arjun must take a tip or two from his uncle Pawan Kalyan to look trim and fit at the same time. Having fleshy muscles were considered hot once upon a time but now it is all about pure muscle and no mass.

Jr NTR's 'Kamma-Marriage' Or 'Brahmin-Marriage' On Cards

Manchu Vishnuvardhan Babu married Veronica Reddy that has resulted in obstacles for Mohan Babu for his political entry as he has TDP interests on one side and Congress on the other.

Now to avoid any such problem in future Chandrababu Naidu, Balakrishna and the heads of two news dailies are keen in getting Jr NTR a hardcore Kamma bride before he steps into any love fever with other community girl. But sources say that Jr NTR’s mother is keen in getting his son married to a Brahmin girl as she is a Brahmin. It is known that Jr NTR never says ‘no’ to his mother and hence the tremors are heavy in the pants of all Kamma heads mentioned above. They are worried that he may get married to any Brahmin girl and drop down from their hands.

The focus is more on Jr NTR now as he is the saviour of TDP, they feel. And who ever be the bride, be she Kamma or Brahmin, she must definitely be highly understandable and should cooperate with JR NTR both professionally and politically. Everybody in Kamma group mentioned above believes that Jr NTR will be the promising CM in future after Chandrababu’s era. Hence this heavy exercises.

Performing-Singer's 'Affair' With Husband's Friend

Well, time now for another update on the extra marital affair front from the Film Nagar circuit. It seems that a hot buzz has been making rounds about the steamy passionate affair between a couple. The lady happens to be a singer and performer on stage.

Apparently, she is married since quite a while but then she has been involved with another man apart from her husband. He happens to be her husband’s best friend and it seems that she has made it clear that though they are married, even the hubby can go around with whoever he wants.

It is also said that this singer doesn’t want to have kids since she feels that would affect her body figure. Well, if you have heard of the American way of thinking, then here is one live example of such a person. Tollywood sure is one interesting place to see unusual things happening.

Russian Beauties Praying For Tollywood Producers

When the whole world has been reeling under recession, the one place that has been brimming high with big budget movies and paying astronomical amounts to actors is Tollywood. True to the image, it is now in a position that even girls from foreign countries are looking at this as the place to be.

Apparently, news has been arriving from film nagar that many girls from foreign countries, especially Russia are currently making headway into Tollywood. They are said to be making a decent earning living here and by taking part in item songs or as co-dancers in regular songs.

While some have come here due to poor economic conditions in their country, there are those who say that they know the demand for white skin on the screen. Also, given their hot and sculpted bodies, the Russian beauties are becoming the best choice for Tollywood producers and vice versa.

This will be similar to the popular King Fhisher calander. Shoot was done for Ileana in Goa beach and Shreya in Chennai beach. It is also heard that these two beauties have charged a huge amount for this shoot. We will have to wait and see how the calander is going to be.

Chandra Bose’s song becomes a prayer song in schools

Chandra Bose is one of those lyricists known for his great works of Telugu literature. He wrote innumerable songs with great literature but the song which remains forever in everyone’s heart is the inspirational song, ‘Mounamgane Edhagamani….’. And the other song that has inspired the younger lot is ‘Aaratam Mundhu Aatamkam Entha?’ from critically acclaimed ‘Ningi Nela Naade’, a Telugu dubbed version of the Chinese Film ‘Invisible Wings’. This film was screened for 11 times during the recent International Children Film Festival in Hyderabad. Chandra Bose says he is happy to note that the song ‘Aaratam Mundhu…’ has moved many children and that the it is being used as the prayer song in many schools. According to him this song would become even more popular had it been a commercial based film. He expressed his satisfaction and said that he would write more such songs to give boost to the young generation.

Posani as software engineer in 'Gentleman'

Politico-actor-director-writer Posani Krishnamurali's endeavours are eerie, if not outright, ludicrous. A few months back, he released Mental Krishna and claimed to release Gali Seenu in succession. If he called Mental Krishna a film that was coming with a message, and worse, that it was a film the women would enjoy watching (!!!), he is repeating the same claim for his forthcoming film Gentleman.

We cannot comment on the film until we actually watch it; so we can hope to see something sensible in this film. And yes, Posani explores the husband-wife relationship in the film. Interesting twist: he plays a software engineer. At this age? He must be a project leader. But, do not be surprised even if he is seen as a fresher! None can predict what Posani is upto, nowadays.

The director is saying that his new film tells us that for a woman, her behaviour and traits are the hallmarks of her chastity. "The film has all the ingredients that women audience can appreciate," Krishnamurali said. The film has Aarthi Agarwal playing his wife. Jitin, Nagababu, Kota Sreenivasarao are playing other characters.

Hansika not in Golimaar

We all know that Puri Jagannath’s current film is ‘Golimaar’ featuring Gopichand as encounter specialist. We are also aware that it was Puri, who introduced the teeny beauty queen Hansika Motwani to Tollywood industry through his super hit ‘Desamuduru’. But surprisingly sources claim that when he offered to play the lead lady in his latest flick ‘Golimaar’, she demanded a huge amount as remuneration and was stubborn on it. Therefore Puri had to drop her and look for another heroine.

It is good if Hansika realizes that except ‘Desamuduru’ she has no other film to her credit. Even ‘Kantri’ was an average film.

Ileana in 24?

After two years of efforts it is very unfortunate that Vikram’s ‘Mallanna’ has proved that it is not up to the audience expectations. Anyway, Vikram who is still hungry to do variety films was impressed with the story of Vikram Kumar, the director of 13 B. Vikram Kumar, this time also prepared a story with thriller backdrop. Ileana might play the leading lady in this film. The characters are exceptional and it is a good opportunity for Ileana to utilize it for her stable market in Tamil as well. Harris Jayaraj is composing tunes and PC Sriram will handle the camera. Mohan Natarajan is the producer. ‘24’ will go on sets once Vikram completes his present project ‘Raavan’ directed by Maniratnam.
