The first Visakhapatnam International Film Festival had a colourful start at VUDA Children’s Theatre on Sunday with the screening of famous Iranian film Song of Sparrow. A special appearance by Baby Megana Saisri of 'Saregama Little Champs' fame and a Kuchipudi dance by artists of Vizag Sainath Kala Samiti were the highlights at the inaugural event.
Inaugurating the festival, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor B. He underlined the need to promote it as a favourite destination for film units.
Film directors M.V. Raghu, B. Umamaheswara Rao, Akkineni Kutumba Rao and regional secretary (South) of Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) Bh.S.S. Prakash Reddy interacted with the audience.
The five-day festival is conducted by Visakhapatnam Film Society (VFS) as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of FFSI with the support of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and Andhra University.
