On the name of Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the prestigious Akkineni National Awards are being given every year from the past 5 years. A press meet was arranged to brief the details of the awards. At the press meet Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao said, “We have been giving this award to those from various departments who served the film industry. Therefore, this year we have decided to give away theaward to playback singers. In this line we chose honor Lata Mangeshkar this year.”
While the award committee members are Dr D Ramanaidu and Boney Kapoor, T Subbarami Reddy is the Chairman.
