Happy Birthday to A R Rahman

Emperor of music AR Rahman is celebrating his 43rd birthday yesterday. Working in various film industries in India and abroad, Rahman became one of the world’s all time top selling recording artists by selling over 200 million cassettes in a decade’s time.

In 2009, Rahman made his debut in Hollywood through ‘Couples Retreat’ and has composed music for yet another short film in English titled ‘Passage’. But he did only one film in Bollywood, i.e., ‘Raavan’. He took up Pawan Kalyan’s project ‘Puli’ in 2009 but the film is yet to be released. He is presently composing tunes for Naga Chaitanya’s latest flick ‘Nuvve Maya Chesaavo Gaani’ being directed by Gowtham Menon. This apart, he is also working for Japanese cum Malayalam film, ‘Nair San’, English cum Chinese film ‘The Desire’ (only background score), Rajinikanth’s animated flick ‘Sultan The Warrior’ and a Tamil film ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazhakalam’.

Rahman began his film career in early 1990s and has so far won 2 Academy Awards, 13 Filmfare Awards, 4 National Film Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe and two Oscars. This apart he has also been nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2010.

We wish AR Rahman "A Very Happy Birthday" and also wishes him many more successes ahead in life.
